This Autumn SOLIDWORKS resellers around the world will start shipping out the first seats of SOLIDWORKS CAM with every seat of SOLIDWORKS 2018.

Every upgrade or new seat of SOLIDWORKS 2018 will now include standard 2.5 Axis Milling functionality, powered by what we consider to be the best CAM software on the market, CAMWorks from Geometric

CAMWorks was the first SOLIDWORKS Certified Gold Product for manufacturing/CAM software and is written by the same team that brought you the ever popular eDrawings. Geometric have also worked on collaborative projects with Dassault before, such as Model Based Definition (MBD) and PLM, so it’s the natural CAM software to embed inside SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD.

With more than 15 years experience as a CAMWorks reseller (and 20+ years as a SOLIDWORKS reseller), NT CADCAM is looking forwards to helping its customers make the most out of SOLIDWORKS CAM and build their own smart manufacturing eco-system.

Ian Weston, NT CADCAM’s business development director, says “NT CADCAM is delighted SOLIDWORKS has chosen CAMWorks to power SOLIDWORKS CAM.  It’s the perfect fit. We have been using CAMWorks for 15 years and written more than 400 post processors for it. No other CAD/CAM software partnership has been able to do full design and manufacturing automation as well as SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks. All the manufacturing information is held in the SOLIDWORKS part so it is completely seamless and works readily with the SOLIDWORKS PDM products too. “

The SOLIDWORKS CAM 2.5 Axis Milling solution inside SOLIDWORKS 2018 comes with a standard library of post processors and is perfect for new start-ups, jobbing shops and entry level manufacturing requirements. Customers wanting more functionality can upgrade to SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional, which includes the full 2.5 Axis Milling and Turning solutions.  After that the migration path for customers wanting 3, 4 and 5 Axis milling or mill-turn functionality is with the CAMWorks product set - full interoperability between CAMWorks and SOLIDWORKS CAM makes for a seamless environment where users can share the same technology database, post processors and issue compatible CNC programmes.

Ian adds, “Because we knew this was coming, NT CADCAM has been working hard behind the scenes to get our infrastructure right and increase our technical and commercial teams, so we are ready to help anyone with SOLIDWORKS CAM.”

NT CADCAM is currently the only UK SOLIDWORKS reseller with CAMWorks qualified technicians. Simon Beamish, Jonathan Wilson and Paul Lester are all certified CAMWorks professionals with the highest levels expected by Geometric for support and training.
